Machine Shop Leading Hand
£24617 (basic) £27,117 in bonus
This job works shifts 6am-2pm Mon – Fri week 1 and 2pm-10pm Mon-Fri week 2.
OTE (£27,117pa) includes bonus of approx £2500pa (paid monthly) and is available after completion of probation period. Overtime would be in addition at time and a half rate.
The leading hand is responsible for efficiently and productively operating all machinery, including any ancillary equipment, whilst being capable of covering the duties of a setter supervisor when required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Operating a machining cell or paint line, including any ancillary equipment.
To check your own work using measuring equipment and, where relevant, recording the data.
To change own inserts on machines.
Where necessary, the setting of Machines as required (including the paint line), including any ancillary equipment, such as the roll marker or dip tank.
Where necessary, to complete the Machine Shop daily paperwork and bookings as directed by the Machine Shop Superintendent or Manager.
Where necessary, to supervise and organise the shift in such a manner as to maximise efficiency and achieve the expected quality standards.
Where necessary, to liaise with the Foundry despatch area to ensure upcoming castings on the program are brought over and stored in the Machine Shop despatch area until required for machining.
Ensure all finished parts are made ready for despatch to the customer in a timely manner.
General housekeeping to ensure the machine shop, machines and ancillary equipment are clean and tidy.
To liaise with the Maintenance department when required to ensure timely reporting of breakdowns and potential failures in order to minimise downtime.
Together with the quality department to be responsible for, at minimum achieving and striving to improve the quality standards within the Machine Shop.
To undertake any other duties as requested by the Machine Shop Superintendent or Manager.
